The Rio de Janeiro Public
Service and Clínica Galdino Campos help a bather and
show the force of tourist service in Rio
A joint work by the Fire
Brigade, the medical team of Hospital Miguel Couto and of Clínica
Galdino Campos prevented the holidays of a Canadian tourist in
Rio de Janeiro from ending tragically. On January 10, at Posto
9 of Ipanema Beach, fifty-four year old A. NAWRO suffered a
serious contusion in his cervical column while bathing in the
sea. The unexpected strength of the wave immediately
immobilized him.
After the fire brigade was
called, A. NAWRO was promptly taken to the sands of the beach
to Hospital Miguel Couto. He was hospitalized for a few days,
receiving all the support and treatment necessary from the
hospital's team. His situation did not become more serious,
but to avoid the possibility of final paralysis, he would
still be submitted to a final surgery in his own country.
Clínica Galdino Campos,
specialized in Tourist Medicine, was responsible for removing
the patient from Miguel Couto and sending him to Canada.
Accompanied by the neurosurgeon Dr. Gustavo Meireles, the
patient arrived in Toronto without further complications.
His wife informs us by email
that the surgery has been performed and that he is well. It is
predicted that he will be walking again within six months.
